Day 1: Arrival in Paro
Arrive at the only airport in Bhutan at Paro. Your landing in Bhutan is nothing short of a dreamlike sequence from a romance classic laced with thrills and excitement that gets you wishing that the trip would never end. The Kingdom of Bhutan unfolds beneath your airplane as the clouds part to let you peek at the rice farms terraced on to the gorgeous valley. Besides the terraced farms, some of Bhutan's oldest temples, monasteries, and National Museum (at the ancient watchtower) can be found here.
On landing, our representative will escort you to the hotel. On arrival, check in and relax for the day. In the evening, go out on a walk to the local colorful shops and enjoy the air crisp with flavors of the street food. Indulge your palate and return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Bhutan.
Day 2: Paro
After breakfast at the hotel, explore the riches that Paro has to offer on a sightseeing tour. Visit the 17th century Rinpung Dzong (built in 1646) that is admired as much for its precise symmetry as it is for the ruler who built it. Shabdrung Ngwang Namgyal was the first spiritual ruler of Bhutan. Later in the day, visit Ta Dzong on the hillside, and go on an excursion to the serene Taktsang monastery or the Tiger's Nest that is set on a cliff overlooking the valley. Also visit the ruins of Drugyel Dzong or the victorious fortress - a monastery that kept the Tibetan invaders at bay for its strategic location (18 km from Paro) in 17th century. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Paro.
Day 3: Paro - Thimphu
drive to Thimphu after breakfast at the hotel. On arrival in Bhutan's capital city, check in at the hotel and relax for an overnight stay at the hotel in Bhutan.
Day 4: Thimphu
Breakfast at the hotel and go on a sightseeing tour of the capital city that includes visits to the most popular tourist attractions as well as the most bizarre of them all. Walk along the banks of the river that takes you through the city's government, religious and commercial past preserved in its buildings and monuments. See Tashichho Dzong (main secretarial building and home to the throne room of King of Bhutan), The Thangka Painting School, National Library, Traditional Medicine Institute and shop for souvenirs at the Handicraft Emporium. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 5: Thimphu - Punakha
Drive to Punakha after breakfast at the hotel. En route visit the 17th Century Simtokha Dzong (oldest in the country) located on a spectacular ridge surrounded by pine forest and small villages. On arrival, check in at the hotel for an overnight stay in Punakha.
Day 6: Punakha -Wangduephodrang - Punakha
Breakfast at the hotel and go on another round of sightseeing in Punakha. Visit the 17th century Punakha Dzong that is set at the confluence of two rivers in the 17th Century and was built as a political and religious center in the Kingdom of Bhutan. Later in the day, after lunch, go on a brief excursion to Wangduephodrang - the last frontier of Bhutan. Visit the Dzong (fort) that occupies a central position in Bhutan's geographical and politically unification.
Day 7: Punakha - Paro
Drive back to Paro after breakfast at the hotel. On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax. The day is for you to spend at leisure - shopping, catching up on sightseeing, or indulging in other recreational activities available at the hotel. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Paro.
Day 8: Departure from Paro
Breakfast at the hotel and relax for the morning. Our representative will escort you to the airport from where you board the flight back home or to your onward destination.
