Location: Located on the western coast of the Indian Peninsula.
History:Once the capital of the Portuguese Empire, Goa is also known as 'The Paradise of the South'. Goa was a part of the Mauryan Empire in the 3rd century B.C. Later it was ruled by the Satavahanas, Chaulukyans and Muslims. Many forts and churches were built during the Portuguese reign in Goa. Till 1961, when the Portuguese left India, Goa remained backward and only after that it has emerged.

Goa Anjuna Flea Market: It's very popular among tourists. It's held at Anjuna beach in Goa on every Wednesday. The Hippies introduced this market. They used to sell their second hand goods to purchase first hand goods.
Goa Basilica of Bom Jesus: It was built in 1605 and is considered as one of the World heritage monuments. The sacred relics of St. Francis Xavier are kept in this church.
Beaches of Goa: Major attraction of Goa is its beaches. Out of 125 km coastline, the beaches of Goa cover about 84 km. The cleanest beach which very popular among the tourists is Calangute beach.
How to Reach:
Air: Regular domestic flights to and from almost all major cities of India are available from Goa's airport, Dabolin at a distance of 29 kms from south of Panaji.
Rail: Goa has two railway stations at Margao and Vasco de Gama. Daily trains to Goa from Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore are available from here.
Road: Regular bus service is available from Panaji's Kadamba bus stand. Taxis can also be hired. Goa is well connected to major cities like Mumbai and Karnataka.
Sea: Ferries are also available between Mumbai and Panaji.
